The alternative fashion show “Designs from Couture” was held in Illkhom theatre within a program of annual festival of the modern art. 28 fashion designers from Uzbekistan as well as guests of the festival from Russia and Kyrgyzstan have presented the best avant-garde collections.

In the Central Exhibition Hall was held the republican exhibition of masters of the folk applied arts and craftsmen. The exhibition was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republican Scientific and Methodological Center of Culture and Education. The modern masters of the applied arts from Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya and the Republic of Karakalpakstan have exposed their works at this exhibition.

In the Central Exhibition Hall of was held the International Exhibition “The Jewelry – Land 2002″. The representatives of 14 countries, including Uzbekistan, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Switzerland, Turkey and others, took part in the exhibition and fashion festival.

The exhibition of child creativity is always a discovery of a new and at the same time well acquainted world of childhood. 80 works of children from Tashkent, Samarkand, Andijan, Khorezm and Karakalpakstan charity houses have been exposed at the annual exhibition “Kamalak zilosi” in the Centre of the Modern Art. Among them there were watercolors, soft toys on the motifs of tales and pieces of the applied arts. The Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, the Embassy of Egypt in Uzbekistan, the Egypt Centre of Science and Education in Tashkent have become founders of this action.

In the Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan was held the Exhibition of “Iranian and Uzbek Miniature” giving evidence for close interaction of the Uzbek and Iranian cultures during many centuries and for intention of further development of Uzbek-Iranian relations including the art of miniature typical of oriental countries. The president of Iran Sayid Mukhammad Khatam, the Prime minister of Uzbekistan U.Sultanov, the deputy Prime minister H.Karomatov and the other official visited the Exhibition. The works of the Uzbek artists, such as Sh. Mukhamedjanov, N. Kholmatov, Sh. Shoahmedov, A. Tursunov and others, were presented at the Exhibition. The works of Mehrzamon Fahhor Munfarid, Masud Khunarkor, Amir Tahmosbiy-zade, Mahmud Farschien and other famous artists presented the Iranian miniature painting.

In the Centre of the Modern Art was held the exhibition “Music in the Art of Avant-Garde”. In the exposition were presented the pictures from the collection of the State Art Museum of the Republic of Karakalpakstan by I.V. Savitskiy. The works of the famous artists A. Volkov, M. Kurzin, N. Korakhan, U. Tansikbaev, V. Ufimtsev and others were exposed there. The exhibition was organized by Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation – Uzbekistan, NPO “Friends of the Nukus Art Museum” and others.

In the Central Exhibition Hall was held a personal exhibition of George Kim who has presented his aquarelles and small plastic forms (netske). Oksana Vladimirovna Melnikova was a sponsor of the exhibition.
May 8 – 20
In the Central Exhibition Hall was held the Republican Art Exhibition of veterans of war and labour devoted to the Day of Memory and Honours. At the exhibition, having become traditional, were exposed over 280 painting and graphic works of artists-veterans from the art union at the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan. The exposition reflected a mood of optimism and hopes of a good start, and visitors could feel alive joint of the time.

In the Center of the Modern Art was held a personal exhibition of Gairat Baimatov “Oriental Tales”.

In the Indian Cultural Center was held a personal exhibition of the artist from Gulistan Anarkul Baibekov who exposed more than 20 landscapes.
May 30 June 17
The exhibition “Usto Ibraghim Kamilov and His School” was held in the Center of the Modern Art. More than 250 works of the master and his students were exposed there. The exhibition was devoted to the 75th anniversary of Ibraghim Kamilov, one of the best among the masters of the seventh generation of life potters of the Rishtan dynasty.
May 31 June 10
“Peace to the Planet” was a motto of the exhibition-competition of talented children from Tashkent, which was held in the Central Exhibition Hall. The exposition presented about 500 works of children at the age of 3 – 15. The Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan and Child Fund of Uzbekistan became founders of this action.
May 31 June 15
The exhibition of graphic works “Artist and Book” held in the Center of the Modern Art exposed over 100 works of the artists of the 60s – 70s from the fund of administration of art exhibitions. Among them there were works of real masters, K. Cheprakov, L. Davatz, T.Mukhamedov, I. Kiriakidi and others. The exhibition presented also the works of young artists in graphic from the National Institute of Arts and Design by K. Bekhzad.
June 4 – 10
“The Uzbek – Korean Art Exhibition” in the Central Exhibition Hall was devoted to the 10th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Korea and Uzbekistan. The exposition presented over 300 works in painting, graphic, applied art and ceramics.
June 7
Wide-ranging creative action, the exhibition-competition “Under Sail of Childhood” devoted to the International Day of Children, was held in the Center of the Modern Art. Young artists at the age of 3 – 13 from Tashkent have participated in it. The Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan and Business Bank became founders of the exhibition.
June 11 – 20
Abdukhakim Karimov presented his personal exhibition “Ksengul”. The exposition in the Central Exhibition Hall included artist’s miniatures on the subjects close to the classic oriental poetry, verses of Navoi, Djami and the other poets.
June 14 – 30
The exhibition “Poetry of Light and Shadow” organized by the Tashkent House of Photo has become a final action of the publication of the photo – album that contained 90 works of 17 leading photo – artists of Uzbekistan. Most of them were exposed in the Center of the Modern Art. The project was executed under the auspices of Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation – Uzbekistan.
June 14 – 29
In the Central Exhibition Hall was held the exhibition “The World in Artist’s Eyes”. Its purpose was to show, by means of original and various manners of the artist, a wide scale of themes and subjects. The works of Uzbek artists, presented at the vernissage, were devoted to more than 30 countries of the world including China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Africa, America and others. Along with painting canvas there were dresses of the peoples of the world.
June 14 – 30
“The Way to Samarkand: Central Asia in the works of French speaking travelers of the XlX – beginning of the XX cc”. It was the exhibition of photo copies of French speaking travelers from archives of France and Switzerland, which were exposed in the Center of the Modern Art thanks to cooperation with French Institute on Central Asian Studies in Tashkent, Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation – Uzbekistan, Swiss Fund on Culture Development Pro Helvetia, Scientific Group “Hellenism and Oriental Civilizations” of the National Center of Scientific Research (France) and the Center of the Modern Art and the Tashkent House of Photo.

Photo exhibition devoted to the World Refugee Day was held in the Central Exhibition Hall. The Refugee Day is a day of hopes and support to refugees of the entire world, whose courage and will cause the deep respect.
June 26
UN Foundation on Population (UNFPA) in Uzbekistan has arranged the second annual National competition of placards on the theme “Indigence, Population and Progress” held in the Center of the Modern Art. A purpose of the competition was active involving of the population of Uzbekistan to the problems of indigence reducing and growth of life level in the world.
June 27 – 30
The International Day of fight against narcomania and criminal sale of drugs was marked by the exhibition of placards “We Choose the Life” that was held in the Center of the Modern Art. The founders of the exhibition were UN division on the drug control and prevention of criminality in Central Asia, the World Organization, the British Council and the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.

In the Central Exhibition Hall was held a personal exhibition of the artist Jeanpulat Basharov.
